“The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six.” (Maria Montessori)
3 Mariposas Montessori opened its doors in 2009 with the 3-6 year-old Montessori Program. Since then, 3MM has grown to include the following programs;
El Nido (1-3 year olds)
El Nido program advances each child’s growth and development through a rich and and well prepared environment designed just for toddlers. The classroom is a special place for the young child to begin his/her first steps towards independence and self-reliance. Our trained Montessori guides use developmentally appropriate and inviting materials to foster cognitive development, speech and language development, strengthen fine and gross motor skills, introduce grace and courtesy, and support the child’s natural drive to act independently.
Because we recognize that children learn by doing, classroom materials are always attractive, safe, and geared for the young child’s success. We call these “Practical Life” materials. El Nido provides children with a socially and developmentally stimulating venue to blossom and creates a natural, spontaneous transition to school. Upon completion of this program, children join our Primary classroom.
Primary Program (3-6 year olds)
This child-centered, hands-on program allows the children to thrive. Our classroom environment fosters the fulfillment of the young learner’s highest potential – social, emotional, behavioral, physical, artistic, and intellectual – as a member of a family and a community. Using the Montessori method, we provide a learning environment that encourages all our students to become confident, independent, caring and creative individuals.
Elementary Program (6-12 year olds)
The Montessori philosophy implemented in our classroom fosters and promotes independence and a lifelong love of learning. Throughout the three year cycle, teachers provide clear curricular and behavioral expectations with encouragement and challenge each child at his/her developmentally appropriate pace. Lessons with the teacher, interest based explorations, self-correcting Montessori materials, and cooperative work groups, all serve to cultivate creative problem solving, budding scientists, reading and language skills, and mathematical proficiency. Our whole child approach to education instills self-direction, confidence, empathy and an awareness of each student’s role in the care of our community.
Scholarship Program
Six out of every ten of our students live in poverty and attend 3MM on full scholarship. Support our students by donating to the Student Scholarship Fund.

Free Lunch Program At 3MM, there’s no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen! The children help prepare the meal, proudly set the table and clean up. At the table, they tell stories, giggle, practice their manners and enjoy new, delicious foods. Together, they develop healthy habits for life.

Sign Language Program
3MM was fortunate to meet Nathalie, our Sign Language instructor, in 2020 and are so happy we did. What a beautiful 3rd language she has introduced to our school family. Our students and staff have really enjoyed learning Nathalie’s language and find it to be perfect for a Montessori environment as it fits well to our peaceful surroundings.
