Allie Kolstad, Administrative Assistant

Allie, originally from Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Psychology. Before coming to the Dominican Republic, Allie worked with the underpriviledged Latino population of children in Milwaukee who were diagnosed with mental health illnesses. She hopes to attend graduate school in Chicago for Latino Mental Health to become a bilingual therapist. Allie enjoys playing rugby, speaking Spanish, and spending time with her dog, a rescued deaf Great Dane named “Cabo.”

 

 

Madeline McIlhargey, Classroom Assistant

From Grand Rapids, Michigan, Madeline recently graduated high school and was interested in taking a year off to explore the world. While in Cabarete, Madeline hopes to make an impact and use her experiences to benefit others in the U.S. Madeline enjoys spending time with her family and friends, journaling, dancing, laying on the beach, and meeting new people.

 

Elizabeth, Classroom Assistant

Elizabeth was born and raised in Cabarete. She is currently completing her high school education and aspires to study Early Childhood Education once she enters college.  When Elizabeth has free time, she enjoys reading, studying, and eating.

 

Carlos, Classroom Assistant

Carlos was born in a neighboring town called Gaspar-Hernandez. When he was 10 years old, he moved to Cabarete. He is finishing his high school education in Puerto Plata at CENAP. Carlos also works as a kitesurfing instructor in town. In his free time, he enjoys reading Harry Potter, visiting his family, walking on the beach, playing tennis, and playing with children.

Michel Martinez, Classroom Assistant

Michel is 3MM’s youngest volunteer at 14 years of age. He is currently at student at the public high school in La Cienega, Cabarete. Michel aspires to be a lawyer and would like to remain in Cabarete. Michel enjoys skateboarding and going to the beach in his free time.
